Welcome to Bluegrass Farm.
Bluegrass farm is a 62 acre horse and cattle ranch located about one mile south of Ava in Jackson County, Illinois. Two miles to the south is Kinkaid Lake, situated in the heart of the hardwood forests of Southern Illinois. The farm itself is located at the end of a dead-end road and shares nearly a half mile of property line with the Shawnee National Forest. 35 acres are fenced in using yellow pine posts and five strands of electrified high tensile wire fencing. Five freeze proof watering stations provide fresh water to seven separate paddocks 365 days a year.
If your pleasure is horses, equestrian trails are less than three miles away at Johnson Creek. If your pleasure is hunting, trophy white tail and turkey have been taken from this property year after year. If you prefer fishing, fish the one acre pond for red eared bluegill and channel cat or walk through the woods a mere half mile and excellent muskie and bass fishing awaits on Little Kinkaid Creek. If you like to hike it doesn't get any better than this. Miles and miles of hiking trails are literally at you back door.
With a total of 2160 square feet, the home is a four bedroom, two bath, post and frame constructed, metal sided and roofed house with a wood burning furnace in the 600 square foot recreation room. The front of the house features a comfortable front porch and concrete patio in the rear. Lastly, a 720 square square foot concrete basketball court in the back yard will surely keep the kids occupied when company is over.
